Pinecone Academy (松果学院 in Chinese) is a learning site about cryptocurrency and money, written for beginners. Everything here is for someone who has never touched any of this before. We don't assume you know the jargon, we don't assume you already have an account, and we don't push you to hurry up and buy something.

First thing, plainly: we are an independent third-party information site. We are not Binance, and we are not the official site of any exchange. We don't speak for any platform, and we don't make your decisions for you. What we can do is explain things clearly, one at a time, so you can see for yourself and then choose whether to act.

What Pinecone Academy is

In short, it's a learning site built around two topics: getting started in crypto, and money literacy for beginners. The first covers what a blockchain is, how to use an exchange, and how to dodge the common traps. The second covers compounding, inflation, dollar-cost averaging, position sizing, the more basic and more durable stuff.

We split the content into five clusters. You can follow them in order, or just patch whatever you're missing:

Beyond the articles, we built a few front-end tools: a DCA simulator, a fee calculator, a position calculator. They all run in your browser, upload nothing, and the numbers they give are just to help you get a rough feel, not a promise of returns.

Why we built this

A lot of people, the first time they go looking into crypto, get either a whitepaper they can't read or a stream of "get in now, triple your money in three days." The first is too dense, the second is reckless. The middle ground, someone explaining one thing honestly to a beginner and flagging where the risk is, is oddly rare.

That middle ground is what we're trying to fill. Explain crypto and money to someone who has never touched it, until they can judge for themselves whether it's worth getting into, and if so, how. If you finish an article and decide "I'll sit this one out," that's a good outcome for us too. Understanding before you act beats clicking buy in a fog.

How we write

All content here is the work of the Pinecone Academy Editors. We don't invent a named "senior analyst" persona to borrow authority. We're an editorial team, and everything is bylined "Pinecone Academy Editors." Here are the rules we set for ourselves:

Where the little squirrel came from

The site is named for the pinecone, so the mascot is naturally a squirrel. That wasn't picked at random. A squirrel stockpiling pinecones carries them one at a time into the burrow, not expecting to finish today and feast tomorrow. The point is having something to eat come winter.

That picture fits the mindset a beginner ought to have: build up slowly, build up the part you understand, build up only what your risk tolerance can carry. In crypto, somebody is shouting "get on board before it's too late" every single day, but the people who go the distance are usually the unhurried ones, stacking at their own pace. So a squirrel hugging a pinecone sits next to the name, as a reminder of exactly that: no rush, take it slow.

How we keep the lights on

This site contains a Binance referral (affiliate) link. If you sign up through our link, using the code BNB2569, and then trade, we may earn a share as a commission, and you get a matching fee discount on your side. That's how this site pays for itself, and we don't hide it.

What needs saying clearly: whether or not there's a commission, it does not change what we write. We won't hype a platform just because it pays more, and we flag the risks we'd flag anyway. The full explanation is in the referral disclosure.

Want to try it hands-on? Binance is the easiest place for a beginner to open an account, with a deep spot market and plenty of help. If you don't have an account yet, sign up with code BNB2569 and pick up the matching fee discount. We are not the official Binance website, so read up first, then act.

One last, important thing

Everything on Pinecone Academy is educational and for reference. It is not investment advice, financial advice, or a set of instructions to act on. Crypto prices swing hard and you can lose your principal. Whether to invest, and how much, is your own decision, and the risk is yours to carry. The fuller risk statement is in the disclaimer.

If you spot something we got wrong, or want to talk about working together, write to [email protected]. We don't offer one-on-one investment advice, and we'd ask you to understand that.
